As a co-founder of GrowMax, Carlos Lau has been instrumental in formation of the company and establishment of its potash and phosphate business. Mr. Lau has been a director of GrowMax since September 2005. Mr. Lau held the position of Senior Advisor (South America) of the company from November 2015 until September 2017, and prior thereto, he was the executive chairman. Mr. Lau was born in South America and has conducted business in South America for 45 years. Mr. Lau has considerable investment experience in oil and gas development projects including gas processing and has significant experience in mining projects in South America. Mr. Lau is President and a director of Electra Holdings.
Ron Ho, CPA, CA, CFA has been Vice President, Finance of Sandstorm Gold since 2009, focusing on structuring mine financing transactions and corporate development. Mr. Ho was Chief Executive Officer of Spada Gold, subsequently known as Awalé Resources Limited, from December 2015 until December 2017 and Secretary and President of Spada Gold from June 2015 until December 2016. Mr. Ho was a director of Mariana Resources from June 2016 until November 2017. Prior thereto, Mr. Ho was Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of SNS Silver Corp., subsequently known as Gold Finder Explorations Ltd. and Venzee Technologies Inc., from 2007 until 2010. Mr. Ho was previously an institutional equity research analyst at Raymond James Ltd., a full service North American investment dealer. Mr. Ho obtained his Chartered Accountant designation while employed at Deloitte LLP (formerly Deloitte & Touche LLP), where Mr. Ho provided risk management and assurance services for numerous clients across several industries, and has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Mr. Rakesh Kapur is the Joint Managing Director, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), which is one of the largest Fertilizer Cooperative in the world with a turnover of USD 3.2 Billion (2017-18). Apart from heading the Finance Division of IFFCO, he has also been extensively involved with all the new Projects, Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Diversification initiatives of IFFCO from their stage of inception.
Mr. Kapur is the President of International Fertilizer Association (IFA), Paris since May 2017. He was the Chairman, Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) during 2015-17. He was also the Chairman of Oman India Fertilizer Company SAOC during 2009-10 and 2014-15. He has been associated with the fertilizer sector for more than 25 years. He is also the Managing Director, IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL) and IFFCO Kisan SEZ Ltd (IKSEZ); and Chairman, IFFCO-MC Crop Science Pvt Ltd. In addition, he is a Member on the Boards of Directors of 4 other Indian and 4 Overseas Companies.
Mr. Rakesh Kapur is a former Indian Revenue Service Officer who has held various senior assignments in Government of India, which included Joint Secretary (Commercial), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI); Director in the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Additional Assessor & Collector, Municipal Corporation of Delhi apart from the postings in the Income Tax Department.
Mr. Kapur holds B.Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, New Delhi and is also a Post Graduate in Management.
Ross C. McCutcheon
Ross C. McCutcheon is a lawyer engaged in a business law practise with particular emphasis on real estate, shareholder disputes, environmental, natural resource, trust and estate matters. From 1976 to 2013, he was the managing partner of the Vancouver law firm, Maitland & Company. The firm focused its practice on serving entrepreneurs. Since May 2013, Mr. McCutcheon has continued to practice law through RCM Advisers advising clients in Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Southeast Asia. During his 41 years of practising law, Mr. McCutcheon served as a director, officer or advisor to companies engaged in various sectors, including: recycling, property development, construction, high technology, fishing and fish farming, mineral exploration and development, oil and gas exploration and development, construction, natural resource and film related tax shelters, advice to charities, and individual trust and estate planning, administration and litigation. In those capacities, Mr. McCutcheon received broad exposure to financial and tax reporting. Mr. McCutcheon has served clients in more than 60 countries.
John Van Brunt
John Van Brunt is a chemical engineer and fertilizer industry executive with more than 40 years of experience in the production and distribution of agricultural products. Mr. Van Brunt was a director of Rio Verde from July 2011 until May 2013. Mr. Van Brunt was Chief Executive Officer of Agrium (formerly known as Cominco Fertilizers Ltd.), which was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “TSX”) and the New York Stock Exchange (the “NYSE”) until December 2017, from 1993 until his retirement in September 2003, and prior thereto, he was President of Agrium since 1991. Mr. Van Brunt was President of IFA from 2003 to 2005 and has served on the board of directors of several private and public companies involved in the fertilizer industry.
Steven Paxton has over 35 years of global fertilizer sales and marketing management experience. Mr. Paxton has been a director of JDC Phosphates, a private phosphate technology development company since March 2014. Prior thereto, Mr. Paxton was Vice President International Sales for The Mosaic Company from October 2004 to June 2010, during which time he also served as President and Director of Phosphate Chemical Export Association. Mr. Paxton has also served on the board of directors of Canadian Potash Export Association, Coromandel Fertilizer Pty. Ltd, Chinhae Chemical Co. Ltd. and IMC Pacific Limited. He served as a phosphate industry consultant to the United States Trade Representative for World Trade Organization negotiations with China during 2001. Mr. Paxton graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Indiana State University in 1974 and completed the Advanced Executive Management Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Business in 1998.
